ABSTRACT:For each country in the process of globalization, inbound tourism is very important objective and necessary trend. Growth of inbound tourism is increasing, accounting for a larger and larger proportion of national income. Tourism is the key condition for bringing prosperity to rich and poor countries, accounting for40% of the global services trade. It is predicted that by2020, the annual number of tourists will reach1.6billion, increasing by100% over the2005number. According to the statistics of the World Tourism Organization, the world total number of tourists in2013was1087million; this number in2012was1035million, inbound tourism income more than US$1,079billion with275million job positions. Along with the world’s increasing population, social income, sales, entertainment, leisure, travel and other needs of human beings also increase. Tourism is becoming one of the world’s most important economic sectors.Vietnam is no exception. Vietnam is a country rich in natural resources, beautiful scenery, mild climate, and long history. Country with many ethnic groups, social order and stability. These aspects create unique possibilities for Vietnam tourism. Before, when the word came to Vietnam, people often thought of war and poverty. In2006, Vietnam successfully organized the APEC meeting, which attracted attention of the whole world. The country made very good use of this opportunity to show the world a new Vietnam. Successfully hosting this world event, Vietnam was again hailed as a peaceful, safe, attractive tourist destination. From2007, Vietnam officially became the World Trade Organization (WTO) member, and was elected non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Recently, the country’s capital, Hanoi was elected as the venue of the2019Asian Games. This provides a tremendous opportunity for economic and tourism development in Vietnam. In inbound tourism, tourist visa, destination entry and exit procedures will always be the key factors which attract tourists to travel to a country. Although, in the process of globalization, Vietnam has great potential in inbound tourism, it still faces many problems and challenges. One of the problems is the issue of entry and exit visas. The world trend is to travel visa-free, but the Vietnamese government still keeps the tourist visa mechanism, which is the problem of this thesis. My main argument is promoting visa-free and visa on arrival traveling and urgent review and reform of the system in accordance with the world trend as well as the trend in the region:simple, fast, in order to attract more international tourists to Vietnam.
