Modern urban construction outdoor advertising not only bear role in transmitting information, it also played a role in the urban landscape display, outdoor advertising in the city as a landscape, a direct reflection of the city’s economic strength and level of opening,it is an important part of the city vision system. The rapid development of outdoor advertising, outdoor advertising makes the design of the city’s image has become a part of the development of urban outdoor advertising in shaping the city’s image has an important significance.However, the current domestic outdoor advertising in many cities due to lack of proper planning, poor management and other reasons, urban outdoor advertising and image-building between the two cities appear incongruous situation, outstanding performance in outdoor advertising and more chaotic, poor, vulgar etc., resulting in a visual disorder, while the city also had damaged the image of the role. Therefore, strengthening the management of urban outdoor advertising, outdoor advertising and coordination between city image has become one of the problems to be solved.This paper is divided into five sections:The first part of the city image design, outdoor advertising design research background and current situation, described the purpose and significance of the research and describes the relevant theoretical research base;The second part describes the connotation of the city and urban image design image design in the definition and classification of outdoor advertising, focusing on the city’s image design and development of outdoor advertising relationship between the two;Part III comparative study abroad in the field of outdoor advertising research and application of lessons in the outdoor advertising abroad experience; The fourth part of Wuhan City, for example, to study the status of the development of outdoor advertising, outdoor advertising and pointed Wuhan problems arising in the development process;The fifth part mainly for outdoor advertising in Wuhan several suggestions for future development.
