Study on Improving Reduction Disintegration Index of the Low-temperature Sinter

Sinter ore is the main material for blast furnace process. The quality is directly related to iron making process stability, other technical and economic indicators. The Low-temperature properties of sinter have a greater impact on the blast furnace. Practice has proved that reduction disintegration index of the low-temperature sinter (RDI +3.15) increased by 5%, blast furnace productionwould be increase 1.5%, and coke rate decreased by 1.55%. So, enhancing the RDI of sinter has the great significance of blast furnace, and which is the development trend of sinter production.This research was designed to find out the influencing factors on RDI of Benxi Iron and Steel RDI through controling the sintering process parameters under the current raw materials conditions. And then measures would be taken, sinter process and sintering technology be changed. The emerging problems during sintering process would be effectively overcomed. Thus, good quanlity singter ore would be produced and high furnace production targets also be improved, which would created good economic for Benxi Iron and Steel company.The reliable measurement system, data simulation and verification test were taken to study the effect of influencing factors on sinter RDI, the factors include blast furnace dust, quicklime and local ore mature, machine speed, material layer height, the ignition temperature, final temperature, FeO, fuel particle size, magnesium stone particle size, limestone particle size, exhaust gas temperature, high grade ore ratio and negative pressure. The results showed that the main influencing factors or sinter RDI are material layer height, FeO content and high grade ore ratio. The best parameters of the main fators are material layer height 610mm, FeO content 10%, high grade ore ratio 18% based on simulateing historical sintering production data. The best RDI+3.15 would reach 88.6% under those conditions. The verification test results showed that the experimental data coincide with the predicted ones. However, the high grade ore ratio reaches to 26～36%, and FeO contents is 8.5～9.5% limited by corporate resources, the actual sintering production situation and blast furnace production requirements. So the test result did not reach the expected value 88.6%. The results could guide sintering process and improve a benefit for enterprise efficiency.
