Research and Simulation of Ultra-high Speed Griding of CBN Wheel Based on Virtual Reality

Ultra-high-speed grinding is one kind of new technologies, which can boost the production efficiency,improve the machining quality of part’s surface and actualize precision machining of difficult-to-machine materials. The grinding is named as "the peak of modern grinding", and directed the 21st century development by International Institute of Production Engineering. It follows the development trends broad and domesticly of grinding technology and is very suitable for our country of long-term development. To sum up, here are the parts of this paper.(1) The history of Ultra-high-speed grinding technology and theories is summed up. Then, the superiority and development of ultra-high-speed CBN wheel grinding are introduced. The Advantages and disadvantages, the traits and kinds are discussed of ultra-high-speed CBN wheel’s abrasive. Later, the aim and meaning is stated of this paper.(2) The meaning, basic character, system constitues, key technology, history, research actuality and application are introduced. Meanwhile, the theory of computer simulation technology, the application of virtual reality simulation are introduced too. By comparing several methods, the most suitable method of the subject is confirmed by combining the VC ++ and OpenGL.Some key technologies is discussed of OpenGL graphics library tool.(3) Geometry and physics of ultra-high-speed grinding are analyzed firstly, whoes grinding force and grinding temperature of the simulation model are ensured. So, 45# steel is choosed and the mimulation of which is used by MATLAB. Eventually, the influence rules of grinding wheel speed, workpiece grinding depth, table speed of 45# high-speed high-performance grinding force and grinding temperature are discussed detailedly.(4) VisualC++6.0 and 3D software standard interface(OpenGL)are used to develope virtual grinding surface quality forecasting system based on the theory of virtual reality technology. Virtual disk-shaped grinding wheel simulation model is built considering the basic form of abrasive and random location’s characteristics. A virtual model of the workpiece surface is established using triangular patches.Different parameters of the planar grinding processes are simulated applying the virtual grinding system. From the simulation, some results can be got as: sense of interaction and immersion given by the system, the same grinding wheel performance of virtual and actual one, the surface topography of workpiece is botained by The simulation results and is consistent with the theoretical analysis.So, the system has the advantage to forecast the the surface roughness of grinding.
