In recent years , the explosive growth of the Internet has not only brought a surge in broadband subscribers , increasing network bandwidth , many IP-based broadband multimedia applications such as video conferencing , IPTV , etc. while driving . For the rapid development of these applications , using only traditional unicast -based point-to-point or point-to-multipoint broadcasting technology , core network bandwidth and equipment will bring a lot of pressure . The face of the high bandwidth demand pressures PTV business , multicast technology is a good choice . Multicast is a technique that allows one or more transmission time to simultaneously transmit a single data packet to a plurality of the recipient's network technology . Multicast source to send packets to a specific multicast group , and only part of the multicast group address in order to receive the data packet .
