Effects of Methyl Jasmonate, Salicylid Acid on Glucosinolates Compositions and Contents in Chinese Kale

Glucosinolates (GSs), a group of bioactive compounds, are mainly found in Cruciferous plants. Their degradation products are responsible for the characteristic flavor, plant defense system and anti-carcinogenic effects, but some components can cause domestic animals struma turgescence. GSs were affected by genetic factors, cultivating methods and exogenous substances. It was studied that the effects of exogenous methyl jasmonate (MeJA), salicylid acid (SA) on the GSs compositions and contents of Chinese kale (Brassica oleracea var.alboglabra Bailey) in this paper. Thus it provided the theory for improving the contents of GSs by a scientific approach.0.5 mmol·L-1,1.0 mmol·L-1,1.5 mmol·L-1 and 2.0 mmol·L-1MeJA increased the total GSs content significantly. MeJA treatment increased indolyl GSs significantly, meanwhile decreased aliphatic GSs significantly. It showed that MeJA increased total GSs content mainly by means of increasement of indolyl GSs. Chinese kale leaves, which were induced by 1.5 mmol·L-1 and 2.0 mmol·L-1 MeJA treatment, all had char pitting and yellowed. Therefore, foliar spray 1.0 mmol·L-1 MeJA was more beneficial to the total GSs content, indolyl GSs content, Glucobrassicin (GBC) and Neoglucobrassicin (NEO) contents in Chinese kale.It was studied that the effect of foliar spray 1.0 mmol·L-1MeJA stage on GSs contents before cv.’ming ren’ Chinese kale harvest. The highest contents of various GSs appeared in different stages. The highest contents of total GSs, indolyl GSs, GBC and NEO appeared in the ninth day treatment. The highest 4-Hydroxyglucobrassicin (4OH) content appeared in the 3rd day treatment. In a word, foliar spray MeJA was more beneficial to increasement the total GSs content in the 9th day before Chinese kale harvest.Methionine (Met) didn’t change the total and individual GS contents of Chinese kale significantly. The total GSs, indolyl GSs, GBC and NEO contents were increased by MeJA and Met+MeJA significantly. The above mentioned contents of MeJA treatment were 2.55, 16.59,11.85 and 86.37 times respectively as compared to control (CK). Meanwhile aliphatic GSs, Sinigrin (SIN), Glucoraphanin (RAA) and Gluconapin (NAP) contents were decreased by MeJA and Met+MeJA significantly. Compared to CK, the contents of MeJA treatment decreased by 32.53%,29.79%,46.71% and 33.31% respectively. The contents of Met+MeJA treatment decreased by 37.04%,37.58%,46.44% and 39.36% respectively as compared to CK. It showed that MeJA treatment could increased the total GSs and indolyl GSs contents of Chinese kale significantly.1.0 mmol·L-1 SA treatment was best toward the total GSs, aliphatic GSs contents inducement of cv.’zhong hua’ Chinese kale.2.0 mmol-L-1 SA treatment was best toward the total GSs, aliphatic GSs contents inducement of cv.’zi zhi’Chinese kale, which 1.0 mmol-L"1 SA treatments took second place. Chinese kale leaves, which was induced by 2.0 mmol-L"1 and 4.0 mmol-L-1 SA treatment, all had char pitting and yellowed. Thus foliar spray 1.0 mmol·L"1 SA was more beneficial to increasement of the total GSs and aliphatic GSs in cv.’zhong hua’ and cv.’zi zhi’ Chinese kale.It was studied that the effect of foliar spray 1.0 mmol-L-1 SA stage on GSs contents before cv.’zhong hua’ Chinese kale harvest. The highest contents of various GSs appeared in different stages. The highest Progoitrin (PRO) content appeared in the first day foliar spray SA before Chinese kale harvest; the highest SIN,GBC contents appeared in the 3th day treatment, the highest total GSs, NAP,4-Methoxyglucobrassicin (4ME) and NEO appeared in the 6th day treatment, RAA and 4OH appeared in the 12th day treatment.
