Sound menu system is a very common human-machine interface interation system following the using of the visual menu system. This study adopts laborator research mothods to research the sound menu’s structure, namely the depth and the breadth.This research will complement and perfect the sound menu structure design criteria.This research , which basing on the asssumption that there have a maximun breadth in layer of sound menu structure, includs two phases four experiments.The purpose of the phase one is that finding out the maximun breadth of the sound menu structure. The phase two which depending on the phase one’s results, include two experiments, which both studing the reasonable configuration of breadth and depth , when the number of the menu item is fixed.The concludes according the results of the research are throse :1. The maximun breadth of the sound menu is 5 item.2. When the number of the meun item is 16, the reasonable configuration is 4*4 structure, and the depth can’t exceed 2.3. When the number of the meun item is 32, the reasonable configuration is 2*4*4 structure, and the depth can’t exceed 3.4. When do the depth and breadth configuration of the sound menu, if the menu item can be good to organize, we should increase the breadth,in which the maximun breadth of the sound menu is 5 item, and reduce the depth as far as possible .it can not only inhance the operating performance but also inhance users‘subjective satisfaction in this way.
