Extra- high building is more than 40 floors and100 meters high building. Foundation construction plays an important part in extra- high building construction. Extra- high building foundation should not only bear great vertical load, but also bear a strong horizontal loads of capsizing moment and shear. So the foundation and basic require that a larger bearing capacity, smaller settlement and stable foundation; secondly, a stable、large rigidity and small deformation of foundation; thirdly, it can prevent the sliding and overturning, also should avoid the uneven settlement of foundation caused by tilt. Canton Tower is the first landmark high-rise building in the Pearl River Delta, even in Southern China. Canton Tower will be built the world’s first high ( as of 2010 ) TV tower.This paper is about extra- high building foundation engineering construction which is improved the importance of high-rise building. Through the analysis of Canton tower foundation with pile raft foundation form, it overcome the large diameter bored concrete pile construction under the condition of strong fissure water in the various problems and big volume raft concrete pouring and crack control of the many technical measures. We get a set of pile raft foundation construction experience finally. It plays a key role in concrete crack controlling especially the application of high technology of big volume raft foundation in temperature and stress controlling.In addition to construction technical measures analysis, the paper emphasizes on the construction quality management and puts forward a set of theory. From setting quality objectives, to the principle of quality management, quality assurance measures, and quality of the engineering project construction plan. From the beginning of construction, we do quality planning, especially for basic construction, pile foundation quality management requirements, and to develop a detailed quality inspection plan.Finally, this paper summarizes the Canton tower experience of foundation construction technical measures and quality control. It laid solid foundation of the similar engineering which use pile raft foundation. At the same time we outlook more and more extra- high building which applied to advanced basic pattern and method of construction and challenge the human architecture history new height.
