With rapid development of information technology and social progress,people’s needs on intelligent and energy-saving home appliances has become more and more prominent.Intelligent Home Network System technology, which is emerging to satisfy the needs,, consists of operating system technology, Internet technology and micro-electronics technology。It makes household appliances a co-operated network, which is easy to manage。Smart Home Gateway is the key to the Home Network,and is a bridge between Internet and the home network devices。This dissertation took KNX/EIB system as the research object。On the basis of thorough anslysis of external communication mechanism, solutions of accessing KNX/EIB based on PC and embedded equipment are designed。The dissertation gave an overview of the development of Home Gateway with the trend of initiative Web Service on Device and EIB Gateway modeling in UML。The main achievements and contents include the follows:Focusing on External Message Interface and Physical External Interface, the external communications mechanism of KNX/EIB was thoroughly analyzed。An external communication solution based on EMI 1 and PEI 16 is proposed, which makes theoretical preparation for the EIB Gateway development。EIB Gateway module based on i386 architecture was designed; this provided a PC remote access to KNX/EIB network devices。In general, EIB Gateway is a protocol translation module for KNX/EIB with the function of monitor/control。With KNX/EIB and Linux, the gateway provides good network performance and high stability。
