With advantage of compact frame, excellent dynamical equilibrator and convenient mend, the rotary vane vacuum pump plays an important role in the vacuum equipment market. The traditional rotary vane vacuum pump is widely used in metallurgy, machinery, electronics, chemicals, petroleum, pharmaceutical and other industries. In recent years, with the development and popularization of gasoline direct injection engine, hybrid and pure electric vehicle, electronic pump gradually replaced the engine intake manifold, and become the main vacuum source of a car vacuum booster brake system’s. Compared with other vacuum pump, Rotary vane pump is more suitable for design and installation in the caith the advantages of a simple structure, small size, light weight, vibration, and noise. Therefore, the rotary vane vacuum pump will be widely used in the automotive industry, and plays an important role in auto parts market in the future.In this paper, the basic structure of the rotary vane pump, working principle, and the main factors affecting the work performance is analysised and studied, and the reasons of lack of indicators in the pumping speed, ultimate vacuum, noise, oil spills are also analysised with improving some methods. According to the requirements on the electronic vacuum pump performance of passenger cars, a electronic vacuum pump rotary vane for cars is designed.The study of this paper contain that as followings. With the analysis of movement and the force of rotary vane, the calculation method of the performance of rotary vane pump is derivated, and the dynamic mathematical model is established; according to the requirements for the performance of electronic acuum pump in passenger cars, a three-dimensional structural model is established, and the experimental prototype is processed out; according to the previous theoretical analysis and mathematical model,programs for calculation and analysis of a rotary vane pump is finished ,which do much convenience on the design and optimization for designers; the performance of the rotary vane pump is tested, and the test result is compared with the theoretical analysis to identify the problems that existing in application of practical engineering.The results show that, with the design method for rotary vane pump mentioned in this paper, the pumping speed and ultimate performance of the rotary vane vacuum pump prototype can be meet. However, high temperature, noise and other issues still exist, which need to be optimal designed later. Through the research, a feasible design methods and test data are provided for further research and development on electronic rotary vane vacuum pump.
