At present, in the remote monitoring industry, the way of wired communication has been widely used to transmit data, though reliable and practical, wired communication has its limitation to some extent, it can be only used in relatively concentrated or easily wiring fields, however, for those scattered monitoring occasions, wired communications has too many limitations.With the development of communication technology, especially 3G cellular mobile communication technology goes to be mature. the application of wireless communication network in the remote monitoring system is increasing day by day. Thus, extending the existing monitoring equipment based on industrial Ethernet, combining the method of wireless communication becomes increasingly prominent in order to realize data transmission and remote equipment monitoring.Firstly, the current development status of remote monitoring system and potential application prospects are summarized in the paper. Then, the embedded system technology, remote monitoring system technology, the industrial Ethernet technology and GPRS wireless communication technology are fully introduced; the overall architecture of remote monitoring system is given. By detailedly analyzing the realization principle of monitoring platform, the design of hardware circuit is completed, and U-boot is chosen as bootloader,μCLinux is chosen as the embedded operating system. Boa is acted as web server and all of above are well configured and migrated to hardware platform. On the basis, the serial driver of SIM300 module, the GPIO driver and the relevant applications are programmed. According to the needs of practical application, this paper uses WinSock to realize the data transmission between remote monitoring centers and field terminals.At last, test the system performance with three temperature sensors and a DC motor.
