The Internet is the infrastructure of the information society , and the router is an important communication devices on the Internet , the router received extensive attention and research in just a few decades of rapid development , from the initial single CPU core, centralized forwarding quickly become distributed CPU, ASIC FPGA forwarding structure . In the current distributed switching architecture, Ethernet switching technology for its exchange capacity, wide range of applications , business integration capability, high cost performance advantages gradually become the mainstream of the router switch fabric choice . This study aims to router via an Ethernet switch fabric research, we propose an Ethernet-based switching technology 4 E1 interface card technology solutions, and complete the related research and development , design and validation. In hardware design, the paper describes the architecture of an Ethernet router architecture , and on this basis , we propose a 4 E1 interface card hardware index , completed the 4 -channel E1 interface card hardware design . In the FPGA , the paper describes the FPGA design related E1 technology , PPP and Ethernet technologies and elaborated FPGA internal functions of each module and the realization method describes the relationship between the modules , FPGA Design simulation and online testing. Significance of this study is to provide a framework based on the Ethernet switch router WAN port extending traditional thinking , combined with the practical application given the specific 4 E1 interface card design , proven, designed to meet the design specifications for stereotypes, converting to lay a good foundation. Ethernet switching architecture in the realization of other WAN port has a good reference.
