Next Generation Network (NGN) indicates the tide of communication services convergence, also indicates the development of communication network is moving on from technology-driven to services (demand)-driven. The traditional telecommunication network faces the impact of internet and has been eroding, NGN is coming to us.This paper first introduces the theoretical knowledge of NGN and Softswitch in Chapter I and II, including the concept, network architecture, features, protocols of NGN and the definition, functions, media gateway (MG), gateway protocols of softswitch; Chapter III takes the case of Huawei U-SYS solution and introduces Huawei softswitch equipments which are classified by NGN four-layer structure including edge access,core switching, network control,services management. Next introduces the programs of softswitch network reform, such as local office network reform by UMG8900, IAD networking, taking the place of ONU and OLT by UA5000.At last introduces U-SYS services briefly;As the center of this paper Chapterâ…£talks about network convergence and the whole network intelligence,first explains the necessary of NGN network building for network convergence and intelligence and NGN development stages,then introduces the networking principles of Huawei U-SYS solution and five kinds of networking programs,including multi-media local office networking, C5 networking, C4 networking, Interworking between H.323 and NGN, network intelligence networking. At last takes the case of Chinaunicom project on next generation voice network convergence and reform, introduces the background of Chinaunicom network convergence,advances the period tasks and objects of softswitch network construction; Chapterâ…¤introduces the theoretical knowledge and development prospects of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS),such as the differences with Softswitch, architecture, features and applications.
