Research on Fault Detection and Network Reconfiguration Algorithms for Distribution Network

Distribution network is the final part of the whole power system which faces the customers directly. With the continuous development of social economics in our country, security of power supply is demanded by more and more electric power customers. It is essential that the DAS(Distribution Automation System) should be prompted on a large scale. Fault section detection, isolation and restoration system for distribution network is an important part of DAS. So, study of the algorithm for fault diagnosis and electricity service restoration is the main heart of this paper.The main contents in this paper are as follows:Firstly, to solve problems which exist in the current fault section detection algorithms, which has bad fault-tolerant, large number of iterative and low correct rate, this paper presents a novel fault section detection algorithm of distribution network, which is based on BPSO(Binary Particle Swarm Optimization). This paper presents the principle of the novel algorithm, and the tests in three realy systems approve that the new algorithm is reasonable, effective, and superior to previous algorithms.Secondly, in the research on distribution network reconfiguration which is fouced on static optimization for a fixed operating point, to solve the problems exist in load poised method, this paper presents an improved load poised method for network reconfiguration. In the improved method, the physical meaning is considered and the effective heuristic rule is introduced. As the results of the tests in IEEE33-bus and IEEE69-bus systems, the improved method is effective and superior to the older one.Thirdly, in the research on distribution network reconfiguration which is fouced on dynamic optimization for a period of time, this paper presents a novel method based on BPSO to optimize the discerption of one period of time. The novel method is based on a basic discerption of one period of time, and then use the BPSO to find the optimal time-discerption which well balance the energy loss and the cost of switch operation. As the results of the tests in IEEE33-bus systems, using the novel mothed to optimize the time-discerption, the system well reduce the economy loss.Finally, this paper presents a supply restoration algorithm for the distribution network. The algorithm has combined the fault section detection algorithm based and the improved load poised method for network reconfiguration. Tests taken in IEEE33-bus and IEEE69-bus systems, prove that the algorithm is reasonable and effective.
