Special Education Schools is an important symbol of the level of national education and the degree of civilization. Chinese special education has been in a situation with vigorous development, especially since the reform and opening-up. This thesis puts forward that Ideological and Political Education has its important significations and requirements in Special Education.Special Education Schools have a history of 100 years, but Ideological and Political Education in these schools has still taken a single and close model whose ideas, contents and methods couldn’t be fit for special group’s development. So, how to innovate Ideological and Political Education Ideas which is used to guide practice, how to find the suitable contents for special students, how to teach special students in a popular method and how to improve special students’personality and teach them in accordance with their disability have become an important event. That’s to say, how to make well the work of Ideological and Political Education in Special Education Schools should be the key point.Starting from current situation of special education, this thesis analyzes the status of education of the School-age children with special needs and defines the meaning of ideological and political education in special education schools. Then, it explores some main problems of ideological and political education in special education school from four aspects:the outdated team construction; the backward of educational ideas, contents and methods; the deficiency of direction and timeliness and the separation from family education and social education. After the analysis of some traditional and nontraditional factors of Ideological and Political Education in Special Education Schools, this thesis puts forward some suggestions which are used to improve the effectiveness of Ideological and Political Education in Special Education Schools:(1). The innovation of ideas should be combined with scientific practice with two main bodies of education that are the education of psychological quality and legal system. (2). The construction of school environment should be linked to the influence of social environment with the enhance of school construction and the influence of social environment. (3). the value guidance should be connected with independent construction with strengthening the educators’value guidance and developing the students’ability of independent construction. (4). The prediction and prevention should be combined with consultation. (5). Dominant education should be linked to implicit education. (6). integrated development should be considered with personality education with paying attention to individual differences and teaching students in accordance with their disability. Taking these measures into account, the work of Ideological and Political Education in Special Education Schools will be done well.
