The Three Gorges Project is now the largest one in China, which has comprehensive benefits of flood prevention, power generation, shipping and so on, its operation and management is a organic integrity, Combined optimal operation is the only method to make the most comprehensive benefits of The cascade. Through the analysis of TGP background, this paper proposes the related problems on optimal schedule system design , puts forward optimal algorithm on TGP short-term power generation schedule, establishes the model of daily power generation schedule and the strategy of water level optimization under the principles of daily power generation and presents the rules and methods of daily power generation schedule making according to a practical example.On the basis of the theoretical research above, a TGP shot-term optimal schedule system is designed and integrated, which is on the foundation of advanced J2EE-SSH structure. This system with satisfying transfer ability and highly-efficient database includes daily schedule making module, water level optimal control module and short-term power generation optimal dispatching module. Daily schedule making module can present a detailed daily schedule plan to gain maximum benefit according to the practical condition of the cascade. Water level optimal control module can find the optimal water level for power generation schedule. Short-term power generation optimal schedule module, which is for few-days optimal dispatching, can present a optimal schedule with dynamic programming. This system has been deployed in the dispatching center of TGP, providing scientific reference to operators.
