With the vigorous development of the national economy, tourism has increasingly become a pillar industry in the tertiary industry. Interpretation work as an important component of the tourism industry has been paid more and more attention. In traditional museums, galleries and scenic spots, the main interpretation method is artificial interpretation by the guides. This method has some disadvantages, such as single interpretion language, large amount of duplication of work and the autonomy of visitors limited. Therefore, the intelligent interpretation system comes into being, which is convenient to rich interpretation content, add new interpretation languages and offer visitors self-service.In this dissertation, a new type of intelligent interpretation was designed for exhibition and museum. The system consists of two parts:RFID module and multimedia playback (MMP) module. The two modules syncretize RFID technology, embedded control technology and multimedia playback technology. The RFID module is applied for identification of tourist information, including language choice information and visitor identification information. In hardware design, MF RC522 RF reader chip is employed as the core chip, and Atmega8 as the MCU of the RFID module. In software design, MCU control software is programmed C language, which task is making the RF reader reading card automatically. MMP module is responsible for controlling RF reader and playing interpretation files. S3C2440 chip based on ARM920T core is selected as the core of the MMP module, equipped with 64MB Nand Flash, 32MB SDRAM, and other interface circuits; meanwhile, the system employs embedded WinCE operating system as the development platform to develop relevant driver and application softwares, which aims to control RF reader, select language and play multimedia interpretation files automatically. Intelligent interpretation system is placed beside the exhibit, when visitors enter the venue, they punch the card after selected the exhibit, RFID module can identify the visitor information automatically, and transmit this information to the MMP module, MMP module can authenticate visitors and determine the interpretation language type based on the information received. Finally, the interpretation multimedia files with the corresponding language will be played to the visitors.Through actual debugging of the system, the system has realized the functions of automatic reading card, smart language selection and automatic playing multimedia files basically. Meanwhile, the experiment also shows the system has characteristic of good real-time, easy operation and maintenance. Development of the system will help to improve the traditional model of tourism and the intelligence level of the tourism industry.
