A Study of Intercultural Communicative Competence of Chinese PhD Candidates

Global awareness of the people of the world today is growing more and more frequently , people in different social, cultural and regional exchanges . All this makes Intercultural Communication became a prominent feature of this era of globalization , today 's foreign language teaching is based on the students ' communicative competence in the case of cross - cultural communication , namely intercultural communicative competence . Many researchers have been at home and abroad from the theory and practice of intercultural communicative competence large number of studies explored the concept of intercultural communicative competence and its components , and even proposed a variety of cross - cultural communicative competence mode . However, very few Chinese doctoral study of intercultural communicative competence . This article is intended to explore the difficulties encountered in cross - cultural communication doctoral and doctoral students to know more about China from the point of view of students and foreign teachers intercultural communicative competence . Based on the theory , this paper designed two questionnaires as the main study , 200 participated in the fall of intensive English training doctoral students and 15 of their foreign teachers teaching quantitative empirical research . The study found that the students considered the weakest intercultural communicative competence in language skills , foreign teachers , however , think that social language skills weaknesses of the students . The study also found that both from the teacher 's point of view or from the point of view of the students themselves to see Chinese doctoral good strategy ability to make up for the lack of language ability or social language skills .
