Business Process Management integrates information resources to electronize the management of business process, within organization or among collaborated organizations. With the development of IT technology, Business Process Management has been taken as the key technology to improve organization’s competitiveness. Web service, on account of its platform independence, is competent for information resources integration in business process management. Service Composition is proposed for information resource integration, which is to compose primary Web services to implement more complex business task.In the context of business process management, the business process is determined by organization structure and business rule, while activities in the process rely on service composition to implement. This paper proposes business process oriented dynamic service dynamic composition, to resolve the information resources integration within Business Process Management context.To support the dynamic service composition in business process management context, this paper designs a hierarchical business model, including three layers, business logic layer, function logic layer and information resource layer. The service composition is to generate the function logic layer according to the other two layers.In this paper, we make an intensive study of service composition and composition service execution. In the service composition part, we mainly study the Hierarchical Task Network based function process planning, the semantic based service discovery, and the Quality of Service based optimum service composition selection. In the composition service execution part, the main emphasis of our research is shifted to the Web service adapting and the handle of exception.To check the feasibility of our approach, the system architecture is designed for hierarchical business process management system, and the components related to service composition is explained in detail.
