The core of the market competition, which is the global competition in the 21st century, is gradually evolving into the competition among the supply chains rather than among enterprises themselves, and book distribution industry is no exception. Therefore, it is gaining ever-increasing concern to master the fundamental principles of supply chain management as well as its application to the practical administration, and it is even more crucial to China’s book distribution industry.Based on the actual demand from clients, the supply chain of book distribution industry, taking the general agents and wholesalers as cores, is a functional network to make the publishers, distributors, retailers and readers an integrity by controlling the information, logistics and funds. The management on the supply chain of book distribution industry mainly includes planning and cooperation as well as the controlling of the information, logistics and funds on publishers, distributors and retailers, thus to content all aspects.In the past decades, the book distribution industry in China has developed greatly, the position of which in the national economy continued to strengthen and it can unfailingly stimulate the national economy. The characteristics of it are evident, such as strong programming, tight schedule, low level in mechanization and automation, long working hours and complicated relationship. In view of these limitations, this industry still exist the shortcomings like rising cost of production and labors as well as materials. Consequently, only in enhancing the core competitiveness of the book distribution industry can they regain their new life. Hence it is of critical point to optimize all aspects in the process of production to increase profits and to implement the management of the supply chain.The thesis, on the basis of the fundamental knowledge of this area, compares the management of book distribution industry abroad and domestic, introduces the revolution practice in Xinhua Distribution Group and offers the strategies that are suitable to our book distribution industry as well as some countermeasure to the currently existing problems.
