Laboratory equipment configuration plays a crucial role in agro-food safety testing. In order to find out the situation of laboratory equipment configuration in our country, the laboratory system construction and equipment configuration situation both at home and abroad were analyzed. Field surveys were undertaken on equipment configuration and information service situation in agro-food quality and safety laboratories.76 laboratories of the provincial, municipal and farm markets in 11 provinces of China were surveyed. It was found that equipment configuration and detection level of the laboratories in farm markets is not ideal and far from the provincial, municipal laboratories. So suggestions were given and equipment configuration projection was proposed.Sevaral exisiting farm market laboratory models were summarized according to the impacts on farm market laboratories of economic development level and advantage agro-products. Those models are respectly economic developed area model, economic ingeneral model, undeveloped area model and aquatic products wholesale market model, fruit wholesale market model, vegetables wholesale market model, grain and oil market model and comprehensive market mode. Average investment scale, detection personnel and equipment type number were considered in the model. Different models have different features, but there are some problems need to be solved. Corresponding proposals were put forward to farm market laboratories in investment, laboratory area and layout, equipment configuration, detection personnel quantity and level.Safe detection is needed in farm markets, but liminted by the reality of low demand in quantitative detection/limited detection level of the personnel and small investment. So DY-PR-6C rapid detection instrument for pesticide residue, YN-CLVI rapid detection instrument of multi-function for food safety or XYSP-801 multi-function rapid analyzation instrument for food safety were suggested. SPR88 rapid detection instrument for pesticide residue that has super capacity and high speed, GDDYQ-100M food safety detection instruments of 50 or 30 parameters can be used in laboratories which have high investment. Inspection van was suggested to be used in laboratories’in farm markets daily detection work according to properties and agro-food distribution condition of the laboratories in farm markets. It can allocate resources reasonably and reduce waste.
