Design and Realization of Avionics System Simulation Platform Based on Virtral Instruments

Nowadays, an aircraft design institute is developing a new avionics system and they need to carry out cross-linking test, interface function verification and a series of automation test work between avionics system and other subsystems. However, because of the shortcoming of integration, openness and expansibility, the existing equipment can’t meet the demand of the simulation and test work of avionics system.In order to provide a good simulation environment for avionics system and fulfill the demand of the simulation and test work of avionics system, avionics system simulation platform based on virtual instrument is designed. The hardware of this platform is based on PXI platform of National Instruments Corporation and the software of the platform is based on LabVIEW. Avionics system simulation platform can simulate digital signals, analog signals and ARINC429 data bus signals of power, APU, fuel and air subsystems. The platform also includes a real-time simulation system and realizes the customizable ARINC429 data bus communication. In addition, this platform is designed modularly so that its high openness and expandability ensure a good foundation of further upgrading and development of the entire platform while it can meet the demand of avionics system test work at the present stage.This paper firstly introduces avionics system simulation platform architecture, signal types, subsystem function and virtual instrument technology. Secondly, according to the demand of avionics system on simulation platform, based on PXI bus system, this paper designs the hardware platform and circuit. Thirdly, based on LabVIEW, this paper designs the software system of simulation platform and introduces the design, software structure and function of power simulation subsystem and real-time simulation subsystem in detail. At last, this paper realizes the customizable ARINC420 data bus communication by database.
