Researches of Flow Performance and Similitude Theory for Honeycomb Seals

Gas turbine advanced sealing technology is a branch of the areas the the advanced sealing reflected in the improvement of engine performance , fuel consumption rate decreased to reduce operation and maintenance costs , etc. Over the last decade , pay close attention abroad . The honeycomb seal technology is the forefront of advanced sealing technology research direction , through a large number of domestic and international data collection and reading, and subject research , a comb and cellular composition of the sealing structure and aerodynamic calculation . The main content of this paper include the following aspects: 1 . Designed a series combined into sealed by the comb and cellular structure as the research object . By using three-dimensional numerical method to study the cellular sealed internal flow field , the special hexagonal structure and the energy from the honeycomb seals dissipation angle the honeycomb seal sealing mechanism , the following conclusions : a special hexagonal honeycomb seals -shaped structure and a thin wall thickness, having a good segmentation , vortex, damping, the thermodynamic energy dissipation , the throttle effect, so that the leakage fluid may be divided into small eddy current , can be reduced seal cavity pressure of the fluid , so that the kinetic energy of the leakage flow is efficiently converted into thermal energy , to improve the energy dissipation effect , thereby reducing the amount of leakage, and to improve the sealing effect . Computational fluid dynamics software CFX software on different pressure of the flow field of the rotor within the honeycomb seals at different speeds , different cellular structure and comb structure under various conditions were analyzed , and then summarize the honeycomb seals the internal flow field changes law. The point of view of the development of the vortex fluid from a sealed chamber , the energy dissipation honeycomb seals the main factor and the amount of leakage variation . 4 to cellular sealed as the research object , through theoretical study shows honeycomb seals mold design to meet the sealing effect and shall comply with similar criteria . Similar parameters and in accordance with the determined similarity criterion , the analysis of the flow field of the mold design of the honeycomb seal , and the the comparative molding of the honeycomb seal , analyze the accuracy of the mold design .
