Swine "high fever" disease is a kind of contagious disease, which is high morbidity and mortality. Since the disease was reported in 2001 in some districts of Wuhu, it spread rapidly to the surrounding districts. It is characterized by high fever, anorexia, skin cyanosis, and the true causative pathogen is unknown yet. In 2006, the disease broke out in all county in Wuhu. The rapidly spread disease caused every age of swine infected and. have made substancial economics losses in pig industry in Wuhu.In this paper, Detailed epidemiological investigation of swine high fever disease was performed in Wuhu through clinical, serological and pathogenic diagnosis.In order to make sure the causative pathogen of swine "high fever" disease,20 cases of swine "high fever disease" were detected by PCR, bacterial culture, and blood smearing. The results showed that positive rate of PRRS V variant, PRRS V, PCV-2, CSFV were 70%,30%,15%, and 10% respectively, PRV were negative, and several strain bacteria were isolated from above samples.355 serum samples were collected from diseased pigs of swine high fever disease in 4 intensive pig farms and 60 village households in Fanchang, Nanling, Wuhu countries of Wuhu. The antibodies anainst classical swine fever (CSFV), porcine reproductive and respiratory virus (PRRS) and porcine circovirus type-2 (PCV-2) were detected by ELISA kits. The results showed that antibody positive rate of classical swine fever (CSFV) was 3.4%(intensive pig farms was 3.4%, village household was 3.3%, and the fatting pigs was 4%); the antibody positive rate of PCV-2 was 12.1%(intensive pig farms was 15.8%, village household was 1.1%, and the piglet was 33.3%), and the antibody of positive rate of PRRSv was 9.3%(intensive pig farms was 11.7%, village household was 2.2%, and the fatting pigs was 18%).According to the results of epidemiological investigation of swine high fever disease in Wuhu, apprehensive approach in control of this disease was developed. In intensive pig farms, swine high fever disease were under control by all in and all out production model, reducing stress, keeping suitable breedig density, regular disinfection, vaccination and control of bacteria secongdary infection.Combined with some steps in epidemic situation such as isolation,effective drug and urgent vaccination, extremely reducing the loss by prevention first.
