Studies on the Synthesis and Antioxidant Activity of Novel Curcumin Analogues

Curcumin is an orange - yellow powder , mainly extracted from turmeric genus , with important food and medicinal value . Years of studies have shown that curcumin has anti-cancer , anti-inflammatory , anti-oxidation, anti-Alzheimer 's disease , anti-HIV and other pharmacological effects . The most prominent characteristics of curcumin showed strong antioxidant capacity . In order to more effectively play its medicinal value , in -depth understanding of their structure-activity relationship based on design and synthesis of a series of curcumin analogs measured antioxidant activity using DPPH method . The experiment first synthesis of complexes of acetylacetone and boron oxide with ethyl acetate as a solvent , n-butylamine as catalyst , indolyl aldehyde with the complex through a Claisen-Schmidt reaction synthesis of curcumin analogues A1 , A2, A3 ; through the introduction of the water - soluble group in curcumin ( A0 ) on the molecule , the synthesis of a curcumin derivative B1 ; to hexahydropyrido catalyst , ethylene glycol as a solvent , Synthesis of C1 , C2, C3 , C4 , C6, C7, C8, C9, C10, C11, C12, D1, D2; with 30% sodium hydroxide solution as a catalyst, methanol and water as solvent , synthetic C5 . The experiment also explored the solvent , catalyst Claisen-Schmidt reaction process of synthetic A1 orthogonal experiment method to improve the post-processing . The experiments also compare the two methods of synthesis of C3 . Synthetic products by UV , IR , NMR , mass spectrometry confirmed . Experimental Application DPPH method , were measured at five different concentrations of the radical scavenging rate , the results showed that each product have a certain antioxidant activity , radical scavenging rate is increased with time , but also with the increased product concentration increases. Wherein the product A2 , C8, C9 antioxidant activity is most significant .
