Effects of the Therapeutic Communication System Intervention on the Postoperative Gynecological Malignant Tumor Patients with Depression

Objectives The purpose of this study was to to evaluate the effects of the therapeutic communication system intervention on the postoperative gynecological malignant tumor patients with depression.Methods During December 2010 to April 2011,using convenience sampling method, 110 postoperative gynecological malignant tumor patients were recruited in the study. The general information, depression,coping styles and quality of life of patients with gynecological malignant tumor were investigated at admission afternoon. 62 of the patients with mild or moderate depression were willing to participate in the experimental study.60 of them, who have competed the experiment, were assigned into the experimental group (30 cases) and the control group (30 cases) .All the patients received routine preoperative care and general nurse-patients communication. In addition, therapeutic communication was provided for the experimental group. The situations of depression,coping styles and quality of life were evaluated at the day before leaving hospital again.Results①Postoperative gynecological malignant tumor patients investigated who have depression account to 67,incidence was 64.4%.②In the characteristics of coping styles, active coping score was 34.42士8.14,passive coping score was 29.66土8.20.The pearson,s correlation analysis shows that its were obvious correlation (P<0.01).It was negative correlation with active coping and was correlation with passive coping,the correlation coefficient were-0.51 and 0.31.③There were no significant differences on general information,depression,coping styles and quality of life between the two groups before the intervention(P>0.05).After the intervention,the patients, postoperative depression and passive coping were lower,while the active coping, cognitive function, emotional function and physical condition were higher in the experimental group than those of control group(P<0.05).Conclusions①The postoperative depression incidence of gynecological malignant tumor patients with depression. was high and clinieal nursing workers should give atteniion.②Postoperative depression was closely related to coping styles of gynecological malignant tumor patients.③Therapeutic communication system intervention could reduce gynecological malignant tumor patients’depression, optimize coping styles,improve gynecological malignant tumor patients’cognitive function, emotional function and physical condition of quality of life,but not obvious effect for physical function,role function and social condition of quality of life.
