Speech is the means that human being carries on communication. Therefore, using speech as a human-computer interaction approach is the most natural way forthe user. At the same time, equipment miniaturization also demands omitting the keyboard to economize volume. In recent years, the speech recognition technology has been widely applied to industrial control, consuming product and mobile communication. It is a hot research spot in high technology application field. This thesis makes some discussions on speaker-independent isolated word speech recognition system in this case.The thesis first analyses the current situation of speech recognition at home and abroad. After clarifying the background and significance, the thesis introduces the elementary theory of speech recognition system and analyses the basic process of speech recognition. Then scheme of the system is selected according to the requirements of the system.The following work is hardware design. First the overall framework of hardware is planned, then each part of the circuit is designed, including the clock circuit, the power circuit, A / D conversion circuit, extended memory circuit, reset circuit and JTAG interface circuit.Then system software is designed. The flow chart of each process of speech recognition is completed. The thesis gives the flow chart of every part about speechrecognition and the simulation results of every part by using MATLAB7.0 software.Finally, the thesis gives hardware debugging and software debugging on the hardware platform. The hardware-related program was completed. It discusses the process of bootloader and analysis the results of the identification system.
