Research on How to Improve the English Reading Ability of Secondary Vocational School Students with the Aid of Blog

As a new technology of internet application service, Blog is a new internet communication form which is gaining more and more popularity, compared with Email, bbs and other internet chat tool, such as QQ.MSN, Yahoo Messager etc. Blog has such features as simplicity, convenience, low cost and opening, privacy, interactivity, sharing. It enables participants to have full communication and cooperation. Blog has great potential in broadening students’ scope of knowledge, arousing students’ interest in study, promoting teacher-student and student-student interaction. It will be a useful tool in aided-teaching of secondary vocational education.This thesis is trying to teach the students how to read after class with the aid of Blog. By creating a Blog of the teacher’s own, publishing essays and interacting with the students, we are trying to find a way to combine the teacher’s Blog with the English reading of Secondary Vocational Schools so that we can give students instructions how to do English reading independently. We hope we can improve the reading skills of our students.Through the practice, we find that the students have made great progress in vocabulary, reading speed and reading skills. The research shows that the teacher’s Blog has improved the reading ability of the students. It has advantages and great potential in the teaching of English reading in Secondary Vocational Schools. As a means of after-class teaeing, Blog will be more and more helpful. However, there are still some insufficiencies resulting from the limited time and ability. The application of Blog needs to be further improved.
