College Students’ Subjective Well-being and Influential Factors of the Training Path

In the 1960s, subjective well-being was first raised abroad. Ever after that, it has seized much attention. The same research begins in China since 1980s. In the past 50 years, much research has been done and lots of discoveries have been achieved at home and abroad. Different researchers tend to analyze the subjective subjective well-being in various aspects. While at the same time, the ways to enhance college students’subjective well-being seem to be under development here in China. Therefore, the study, intended to improve college students’ subjective well-being, will definitely play a vital role to carry out ideological and political education, and serve to promote students’ living conditions.The thesis gives an insight into the concept of subjective well-being, current research status, research history and progress, theoretical models, on the basis of comprehensive summarizing. According to Ed Diener, who compiled the International University Survey and invented the scale, the thesis aims to measure the subjective well-being of China’s college students by the instruments and tools mentioned in the book, and the consideration of general situations of students. Taking 390 college students as samples, a primitive investigation is carried out. The findings are quite interesting:as for different genders, female students are happier than male students; as for different professions, students majored in science and engineering, at an average level, are happier than those of liberal arts; in term of different grades, sophomores and juniors are apparently much happier than freshmen and seniors. Of four grades, the juniors seem to be the most optimistic about themselves. Regarding different family background, students from metropolises and medium-sized cities are relatively much happier than those from rural areas and small towns; considering cadre experience, college students who have the experience of being a leader are lower than those who have not; taking account of love affairs and participation in regular physical exercises, students who enjoy a partner or sports activities are higher than those who prefer the opposite way of life. In the process of this thesis, the author also makes interviews with 16 students, and inquires about the subjective and objective factors influencing their subjective well-being.After the initial discovery of college students’ subjective well-being, two aspects will influence it, which include the subjective factors and objective factors. The subjective factors include personality factors, attributional style, value orientation and so on; the objective factors include education, financial situation, family environment, social relationships, life events and other aspects. Therefore, this article put forward the strategies of improving college students’ subjective well-being:from the perspective of the ideological and political education, subjective and objective aspects. Strengthening the guidance of students’ Outlook on life and values, helping students to establish the Marx doctrine view of happiness; enhancing the cultivation of College Students’ self personality;pay attention to group construction and strengthen the harmonious class collective construction; Strengthening the combination of schooling and the students-self learning;Strengthening students’ employment instruction; learning students to treat economic situation reasoningly; suggesting students make a harmonious family atmosphere; encouraging students to build a harmonious interpersonal relationship; focusing on the psychological education; advocating students inprove the quality of positive activies of their everyday learning and living. encouraging students to follow their own pleasant experience, and encouraging them to participate the social activities and sports activities.
