Up to date, most industrial buildings have been used for decades. The function has degraded due to the long-time use. At present, carbon emission reduction and resources saving are encouraged all over the world. Therefore, utilize resources to a maximum extent is a great approach in this respect. Specifically speaking, prolonging the life of industrial buildings is necessary in regard to the sustainable development. However, it is required to accurately evaluate the reliability of structures before any reinforcement executed to prolong the life of industrial buildings. Therefore, this research focuses on the management of single storey industrial buildings (SSIB) reliability evaluation which is often conducted in heavy industry such as metallurgy.This paper systematically analyzes the structure of SSIB. And a hierarchical evaluation criterion i.e. components level, structures level and evaluation unit level is determined based on theory of industrial buildings reliability evaluation. Based on detailed literature review, a program for SSIB reliability evaluation is further designed under Visual Basic 6.0. The main objective is to promote standardization of evaluation for SSIB. Meanwhile, the management system of SSIB reliability evaluation is established to systematically analyze SSIB reliability evaluation. The analysis consists of five parts including safety management, quality management, information management, plant management, and program user management.The program is executed based on human-computer interaction. Reliability evaluation for most structure types can be accomplished through this program. Functions like calculation, statistics and query are realized. Furthermore, a case study is presented to illustrate the applicability of this program. The result which is found consistent to the expert’s judgment validated the feasibility and reliability of this program.
