The urban bus station is a member of the family of“urban furniture”.It is not only a functional environmental facilities as a part of city’s outer space, but also is a“business card concerning "image of urban traffic, and even a material undertaker with regard to people from the private space to the public space. It has close relationship with the public. In recent years, with the rapid development of urban construction, citizens in many cities have more understanding and attention on the design of local bus station, and with the progress of the society, people are changing in values perspective. The modern people realize that the bus station is more than the space appurtenances and single facilities of function. Citizens in the city hope to find the senses of home ownership, and to experience more humanistic bus station in the behavior of participating urban public activities. In this background of new era , this thesis carry on research of emotional design in the view of caring about the public , and study the method of emotional design of the bus station basing on the public physiological, psychological needs and behavior.The specific process is concerning four majors:The second chapter from macroscopical to microcosmic perspective unfold discusses from outer space of city, furniture of city to the bus shelters . Basing on the cases of design of bus shelters at home and abroad, and from the present situation of the bus station to bring up the questions which is the deletion of identification and belonging of space of bus shelters .There is a discussion why to design from the view of emotion in the third chapter at first. Introducing the Norman’s emotional design theory, I analyse emotion of space from the perspective of the urban outer space. Then from the perspective of the public, I put forward the design from three aspects which restrict the emotion of design works: instinct level of design, the behavior level of design, the reflection of level of design, which form a series of emotional design theory about bus station . In the fourth chapter ,there is a discussion concerning concrete application of the theory of emotional design of bus station in Wuhan .I begin to put forward the design which base on the needs of the crowd of concrete stations from the methods of design. and the principles of design is to grasp emotional design of Wuhan bus stations as a whole .At last, I put forward the very detailed and specific methods of design from instinct attribute, behavior attribute, reflection attribute to spacing attribute respectively .In actual creative works demonstrated the design theory of emotions . The fifth chapter is concerning the experience of demonstrated result under the virtual reality technology. I found the correspondence and agreement from attribute of virtual reality concerning“3I" between it and three level designs of the emotional design, and promote relationship between them to a height of theoretical study.
