Internet as a data network has seen explosive growth during recent years. Due to the growing importance of the Internet, a new network, such as satellites network, should be designed to facilitate its integration with the Internet. This dissertation is interested in applying mobile Internet Protocol technologies in satellite networks. Recently, the use of Mobile IP has gained attention. The dissertation starting point is the well-known Mobile IP protocol in satellite networks.First, the dissertation introduces the development of Mobile IP in the satellite networks. The detail analysis is given from Mobile IP to Mobile IPv6. Both the protocols pay attention to the mobility of nodes. Neither deals with the mobility of a whole network. In order to conquer the situiation, a new protocol (NEMO BSP) has been proposed. The dissertation analyses the basic solution of NEMO BSP.Then a satellite network structure using the network mobility method has been established. The structure consists of three parts: space segment ground segment and the application segment. The infrastructure of every segment has been given and the paper discusses the particular routing process.Finally in this dissertation, the author uses the NS2 software to simulate the Mobile Ipv6 and NEMO BSP. While the extension to Mobiwan of NS2 first been done to realize the NEMO BSP. Then several nodes moving together using Mobile IPv6 and NEMO BSP have been simulated. After the simulation the author compares the performance of Mobile IPv6 and NEMO BSP. At last, it is found that NEMO BSP is more effective than Mobile IPv6 when the number of the mobile nodes is large.
