With the continued development of globalization, more and more communication are conducting between different countries and places. Associated with this development, the cross-cultural communication activities are increasing worldwide. At present, the reform and open-door policy has been implemented about thirty years, and with the continued development of cultural studies and accumulation and development about foreign language teaching practice, experience and the theory, scholars and experts of Language culture and teaching have a new awareness and understanding on various issues of Teaching Chinese as a second language (TCSL). The relationship between language and culture, language and teaching, culture and teaching teaching are also increasingly becoming the focus of scholars’ attention. People are increasingly aware of that the foreign language teaching is not confined to teaching one kind of language one kind of knowledge about language, and the language learning must be combined with learning its culture. Therefore, the purpose of Teaching Chinese as a second language (TCSL) should be to train the talent who has high-quality and cross-cultural communicative ability.The importance of teaching Chinese culture is more and more valued by scholars and teachers, and content of cultural teaching, especially culture content of poetry teaching in the text should be clarified. As we all know, cultural factors in language mainly means the cultural inherent in the language which exists in all levels of language system. It is mainly implied in the pronunceance, vocabulary, grammar and so on. Ancient poetry and prose, as the carrier of the traditional Chinese culture, literature and philosophy, must reflect the rich connotation of Chinese culture. This thesis attempt to analyse the content, function, meaning of the poetry culture teaching in Teaching Chinese as a second language (TCSL) and requirements to teachers and pay more on the Chinese culture teaching patterns and types of the Ancient poetry and prose teaching in the Teaching Chinese as a second language (TCSL)
