On the Program for Evaluating and Cultivating the Core Competitiveness of GY University Press

University press is an important force in our country’s publishing industry and for a long time, university press has made great contributions to our country’s educational, technological, cultural, and economic development. As our country’s market economy becomes mature and the structural reform of the culture industry is carried forward, university press enters a new development stage. In 2011, GY University Press is expected to thoroughly complete its structural reform and how to correctly evaluate and effectively cultivate its core competitiveness and how to survive and develop in the intensively competitive book market has become a very urgent realistic problem.Firstly, this paper starts from the theory of enterprises’ core competitiveness, classifies and analyzes the various opinions on enterprises’core competitiveness by using the documentary research, and makes a theoretical discussion on the connotations, characteristics, and components of university press’s core competitiveness by combining with the features of university press. Secondly, it introduces the case of GY University Press; based on the introduction to GY University Press and its present development situations, it analyzes the adverse factors in the development of GY University Press. Thirdly, it constructs an evaluation model for the core competitiveness of GY University Press by comprehensively using the Case Analysis Method, questionnaires, and interviews and etc. and it makes a systemic analysis of the core competitiveness of GY University Press by using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and draws a conclusion that the core competitiveness of GY University Press is low. Finally, based on the analysis in the previous parts and combining with the actual situations of GY University Press, the relevant research achievements, and the advanced experience within the industry, it proposes the core competitiveness cultivation program with respect to increasing the human resource level, the ability to independently select topics and make plans, and the influence in the book market, strengthening the marketing capacity, and creating the learning corporate culture.With GY University Press as the research object, this paper makes an in-depth research on the core competitiveness of university press and enriches the theory of university press’s core competitiveness; it makes a useful attempt to study the scientific and systemic evaluation of the university press’s core competitiveness, providing a new approach for the further research; it proposes the program to cultivate the core competitiveness, which is of strategic significance to GY University Press and other medium and small-sized university press in our country.
