Air Logistics relying on the airport infrastructure is not only an organic combination of transport, storage, packaging, distribution, handling, distribution processing, information processing, freight forwarding services and so on, but also an integrated and comprehensive service system which served mainly by air transportation and supplemented by sea and land transportation to shorten hours of cargo in transit. Air Logistics has fast, efficient, professional, high coupling, global accessibility, and cost-economic characteristics, so that it meets the logistics requirements of technology and knowledge-intensive industries such as high-tech industries and high value-added industries. Therefore, developing air logistics is a breakthrough of formatting and perfecting the air-surrounding industrial system. The air-surrounding industrial system with sophistication and clustering features, further promote technological progress and knowledge capital investment, thus promoting the adjustment of regional industrial structure and further development of regional economy.Air logistics based on Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (referred to Baiyun Airport) receives more and more attention since it was moved to the new site in 2004. February 2009 Federal Express (FedEx) launched the Asia-Pacific Transshipment Center, June 2009 the International Neutral Cargo Terminal completed, October 2009 Guangzhou Airport Bonded Logistics Center get the acceptance from the Sate Council, July 2010 Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Free Trade Zone was approved to establish by the State Council. A series of events show that the strong momentum of development in air logistics based on Baiyun Airport coming. In the case of Guangzhou accelerate industrial restructuring and upgrading to promote modernize and advanced industrial structure, and development of the request, the role of air logistics assisting to promote optimization and upgrading of industrial structure can not be ignored.Author accessed to detailed research information and relevant data by the research projects including Development Strategic Planning of Guangzhou Huadu Airport Economy and Air Logistics Industry, and Programming of Guangzhou Huadu Air Logistics Information Platform. On this basis, this paper focused on the impact of Guangzhou industrial structure based on Air Logistics. Firstly, analyzed the Evolution of Industrial Structure in Guangzhou and indicated the high value-added advantageous industries which can be developed to be air-surrounding modern industries by the calculations of location quotient and value-added rate. Secondly, after discussed the characteristics, operation modes and development stages of air logistics, this paper summarized the status of Guangzhou Air Logistics to arrive at the composition of air logistics industry chain, and the architecture model of air-surrounding industries system. Thirdly, combined with the above-mentioned and the reasons for air logistics accelerating the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in Guangzhou, the mechanism model was constructed, and thus conducted a Granger causality test by using the 1980-2010 Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport cargo throughput, respectively, and the added values of the secondary industry, tertiary industry, and the ratio of GDP and added value of the tertiary industry as well. Finally, based on the findings of this paper, the author brought forward the thread of how to develop air logistics for promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in Guangzhou.
