The power relationships between discourse communicative subjects is an important factor in discourse context,which not only restricts the expression and expressive effect of imperative sentences in modern Chinese but also belongs to pragmatic condition.This paper aims to explore the influence of power factor on imperative sentences. This paper did a more comprehensive study and research on imperative sentences in Oiao’s Grand Courtyardby using statistical method and comparison method. With power relationship between communicative subjects as the starting point,while combining syntax, semantics and pragmatics, this paper analyzes imperative sentences’syntactic form, pragmatic condition and pragmatic principle, basing on corpus of Qiao’s Grand Courtyard.Firstly, based on generation of power relationship,this paper mainly concludes and explains five types of power relationships. Secondly,this paper respectively analyzes the syntactic features and pragmatic features of imperative sentences used by power roles and by disadvantaged roles of those types. Distribution characteristics of those imperative sentences are investigated and concluded. Lastly, this paper analyzes the influence of power principle, cooperative principle, principle of appropriateness and explains how those pragmatic principles take effect on imperative sentences’syntactic form and pragmatic effects.
