Contain weak information of lexical items in the process of verbal communication, the speaker is usually considered to be the negation of the lexical item contains strong information, so-called differential meaning. Differential meaning as a sub-class of the session meaning, have been scholars regarded as an important dimension of the basic sample and test language Pragmatic reasoning with theoretical integrity, and is still an important issue for contemporary pragmatics research. Around the meaning of the differential Since its inception Grice meaning theory, research, academia is divided into two camps: the the new Grameen Spirax Horn and Levinson and Sperber Wilson and Carston 后格莱斯派. Which, based on the the associated theory 后格莱斯派 theory seems to have more explanatory power, and therefore favored by more scholars. These 后格莱斯派 (associated theorists) scholars, the differential meaning is one of the examples of pragmatic reasoning, produced in a particular locale. They will be \So not all weak proposition means the negation of strong information proposition. The differential meaning or not depends on whether the hearer to achieve the desired cognitive effects (Sperber and Wilson, 1995; Carston, 1998). 85 English professional graduate study conducted three experiments to test part of the thesis of the meaning of the relevant differential association theory scholars. All experimental materials are in the form of questionnaires presented. Specifically, in the first experiment, subjects saw 30 sentences containing the Quantifier \Were required to judge the appropriateness of these sentences. In a second experiment, 12 simple sentences containing \In the third experiment, the three sentences that contain \All questionnaires recovered after the end of the experiment, SPSS11.0 statistical software for statistical analysis of the data collected. Found through experiments, advanced English learners in China are more sensitive differential meaning phenomenon. In the the rich context clues case, they tend to contain weak information of lexical items for language interpretation, that the generation of the differential meaning. However, it is not expected, such as relevance theorists, these learners are not some special Context differential meaning phenomenon is not sensitive. In short, the experimental results, although not such as expected, but partially corroborated the assertion of the association theory for differential meaning and provide valuable data for the differential in-depth study of the meaning of Relevance Theory Perspective.
