Application Discussion of HACCP in Freshwater Aquaculture

This essay is based on the practical survey of the main aquaculture sites located in Hubei province. The farms were categorized into large ones (with the area not smaller than 1000 Mu) and small ones. All the critical statistics were processed by SPSS software. Data showed that there is no significant difference between two types of farms (P>0.05), except in dredging and disinfection, feed sources and routine maintenance aspects (P<0.05). In practice, the differences did exist in scale and standardization level, which were caused by human, technical, economic and other factors. Due to all these factors, large state-owned breeding sites had better product both in quantity and quality than individual ones. Therefore, it is necessary to take effective measures during the whole progression to guarantee the quality of product. HACCP, a measure to control production process, ensures the safety of final products through effective prevention and controlling. In view of this, we analysed the whole process under HACCP guideline.Further more, four key control points were chosen. They are breeding sites selection, aquaculture water requirement, fry delivery and daily management. Meanwhile, relevant precautions were in control breeding process in order to have better aquaculture product. Some suggestions on HACCP system promotion in China were given in the passage on the expectation of better implement the concept of healthy ecological farming.
