Epidemiological Analysis on the Chronic Disease and Clinical Index Abnormality in Middle Aged to Elderly Health-examination Population of Hefei

Objective To discuss the distribution and related influencing factor of chronic disease and clinical index abnormality in middle-aged and older civil servants from health examination population in Hefei, Anhui Province, PRC.Methods The 9226 cases of clinical data were selected, which were from the middle-aged and older civil servants who received health examination in Anhui provincial hospital,The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University and Anhui Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2008 to December 2010. We analyzed the relevance ratio of the clinical index abnormality from the chronic diseases, especially the top 6 chronic diseases in order. The samples were grouped according to age (45～64 or 65～) and gender (male or female). The different groups were analyzed by Regression with age and gender as risk factors: if age and gender had influence on the chronic diseases and the abnormal clinical index.Results The relevance ratio of chronic diseases and abnormal clinical index was 74.33% from 9226 cases middle-aged and older health examined civil servants, and 70.24% from male group, lower than 78.35% from female group (P < 0.01). The relevance ratio from 45 to 64 year-old group was 69.51%, lower than 79.11% from 65+ year-old group (P < 0.01). The top 6 diseases in order were: hypertension (42.00%), hypergravitation (38.40%), abnormal electrocardiogram (34.40%), fatty liver (22.58%), hyperlipidemia (16.67%) and diabetes (8.05%). Male group was higher than female group in the rate of hypertension and abnormal electrocardiogram, and no statistical difference in the rate of diabetes and hypergravitation, lower than female group in the rate of hyperlipidemia and fatty liver. The 45 to 64 year-old group was lower than the 65+ year-old group in the rate of hypertension, abnormal electrocardiogram, hyperlipidemia and diabetes, no statistical difference in the rate of hypergravitation and fatty liver. In the examined population, the constituent ratio of all-normal was 26.07%, single chronic disease was 19.04%, two chronic diseases was 19.79%, three chronic diseases was18.20%, more than three was 16.90%. The constituent ratio of multiple diseases and abnormal index from 65+ year-old group was higher than those from 45—64 year-old group, and the same ratio from female group was higher than those from male group. In the 45—64 year-old group, the two gender group had no statistical difference, however, in the 65+ year-old group, the ratio from female group was higher than those from male group. Regression analysis with age and gender as risk factor showed that gender factor was correlative with, fatty liver and, and the age factor was correlative with hypertension, abnormal electrocardiogram, hyperlipidemia and diabetes.Conclusions The relevance ratio of chronic diseases and abnormal clinical index was high in the middle-aged and older civil servants in Hefei. Multiple chronic diseases were common. The ratio of elder population was higher than that of mid- aged ones, and female was higher than that of male. Elder and female were risk factors chronic diseases.
