Recently, traditional plasticizer dioctyl phthalate has been forbidden to be used in food package, cosmetic, sanitation and toy fields in developed countries because of its high volatility, transference and toxin. Tributyl acetylcitrate is a kind of the ideal substitute with innocuity, lightfastness, heatproof property and good stability. TBC has been widely used in food package, cosmetic and toy fields.The traditionally productive process of TBC is to esterify citric acid by n-butanol with concentrated sulfuric acid. It has following defects: 1) long production period and low yield; 2) complex extraction process and vast waste; 3) high production cost. Therefore, more advanced process of esterification of TBC is needed to replace traditional process in order to solve these defects.Through lab experiment and industrialization product, the esterification process of TBC is studied, and the optimized conditions are concluded as followed:(1)Ratio of CA to n-butanol is 1: 4.5;(2)Esterification temperature 120℃;(3)Esterification time 4.5 hours;(4)Catalyzer choice and dosage: PW/MCM, dosage 2 %;(5)Concentration of neutralization sodium carbonate, 3 %;(6)Decompression distillation temperature, below 140℃;(7)Dosage of active carbon for decoloring, 0.3 %.Magnified experiment and industrialization production have been implemented based on lab experiment. The results indicate that lab experimental condition is credible, and under optimum process conditions TBC can meet requirement with high quality and yield of 97.0%.
