The varies kinds of condition in Xiangxi Atonomous Prefecture is suitable for raising goats,and it has a long story of doing it.But the livestock breeding develops slowly because of different kinds of reasons,so the local goat’s physique is not big,the speed of growth is slow,but the rate of its reproduction is very actually high,the rate of average reproduction of lamb is between in 223%~227%when they are at the age of 3-5.The Boer goat is publicly known as the most outstanding breed of meat sheep,It has been ten years since they are introduced in China,and they have hybrided with other local goats,which fully indicated that the Boer goats can improve our local goats breed,and it is of ideal advantages of hybridzation.It has been introduced in Xiangxi since 1999,the suitability in Xiangxi and the effect of hybriding with other local goats mianly show as follows:(1).The Boer goats can completely suit for surviving in the Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture inspite of declining the function,because the farmers in Xiangxi haven’t the perfect conditions to meet the requirement of raising Boer goats especially the fodder which can’t catch the nutrition requirement in quantity and quality,and the extensive management has seriously restricted the Boer goats’ function of reduction.(2)The hybridization of the Boer goats and the local goats in Xiangxi fully shows it’s advantage,and the speed of the mixed generation’s growth is obviously higher than the local goats’(p<0.01),and they are obviously bigger than the local goats in the shape. (p<0.05).(3).The production of beef of mixed generation is obviously higher than the local goats’.It indicated through the slaughtering determination that the dressed carcass percentage is 27(ewe) and 33%(wether).But the mixed generation’ can come up to 34.5% (ewe) and 48.1%(wether),which has been extreme differentation between them.(4) Through determinating the average production of lambs of the 80 fixed and local ewes,it shows that there is difference(176.25:171.25 )but it is not too obvious.
