Potato harvest is a very heavy work. Potato harvester has achieved a combination of mechanization and automation in Europe and the United States, and hydraulic, electronic and sensor technology used in these machines. They complete the excavation, cleaning, transportation and so on. Only few individual labor force support for work, workers will greatly reduce the intensity of the work. But it is at the beginning and development stage in domestic, the structure of potato digger is simple, and it just completes digging and window, then pickup artificially to complete the harvest. Foreign advanced harvester are large, automotive and integrated mechanization, but study of potato harvester is little in domestic, there is large gap between home and the international. And there is few potato harvesters with digging, separation, cleaning, grading at home and abroad. After researching and observing the potato harvest machinery in the domestic and international, and comparing the characteristics of the structure and work. A new kind of potato harvester is designed.Through investigation, study and analysis, then designed a new type of potato combine harvester. The new potato harvester consists of digging, elevator and separation devices, grading devices, transmission and traction devices. It could complete potato digging, cleaning, grading, bagging (boxing), greatly reduce human labor intensity. Design and identify basic installation methods and parameters of digging parts, elevator and separation devices, grading equipment and transmission of the new potato harvester according to agronomic requirements. Use the computer aided design software (CAXA and Solidworks) to complete the 3D model. And the simulation analysis (COSMOSWorks) in Solidworks is used to analyze digging shovel, shovel rack of the new potato harvester. It can be further redesigned several parts optimization, to obtain more reasonable structure parts. Expound on all parts power consumption of the potato harvester, and verify transmission parts.Finally, through the movement simulation software (Solidworks) and adding suitable actuation to carry on the dynamic physical simulation to the potato combine harvester, then observe the working effect and various parts, the relative position of components, whether the interference and other disadvantageous effects happen. Make the further revision and design to achieve the perfect effect.The final potato harvester use the polyethylene material round of the star wheel transition greatly reduces the damage to the potato; the rubber grading roller in the grading device could also reduce the potato collision damage; the potato combine harvester need one or two individuals work at the separating belt to remove large stones or other debris.
