Objective: In recent years, the high incidence of head injury. Appears in a strong external force brain anatomy shift, dysfunctional central nervous system, higher mortality and morbidity, timely diagnosis and treatment is extremely important to save the lives of patients, traditional treatment methods are open cranial decompression surgery and conservative medical treatment, recovery to functional training, the clinical results are not satisfactory. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that have self-replicate and differentiate into a variety of functional characteristics of cells. Including hematopoietic stem cells, recent research found that hematopoietic stem cells can not only directed to differentiate into blood cells, but also under certain conditions, to differentiate into non-myeloid cells, such as liver cells, skin cells and even nerve cells, which for the Brain Injury the repair of nerve cells bring new hope. CD34~+ cells are specific markers of hematopoietic stem cells, this study and explore the different dynamic observation of the severity of brain injury patients and CD34~+ cells in peripheral blood changes and the relationship with the prognosis, and both the mechanism and clinical significance of elevated. Methods: The hospital admitted 30 cases of neurosurgical patients with brain trauma as the research object, the selection criteria included: admission within 6 hours after injury; through history taking, physical examination and ancillary check to make sure no other parts of serious injury, infection and blood system diseases ; according to admission Glasgow coma score were divided into weight groups, while in our hospital medical center 15 healthy adults as a control group, the families of the patients and the control group who explained the purpose of this study and methods, informed consent. On the first day of admission, the third day, fifth day, seventh day, the tenth day, the fourteenth day of taking venous blood of patients and control groups by flow cytometry CD34~+ cells in the peripheral blood; blood cell analysis white blood cell count routine testing instrument, and the data were statistically analyzed, while observing the patient’s condition changes, tracking outcomes, according to the prognosis of patients into different circumstances of death group and survival group, comparative analysis of relevant data. Results: 30 cases of brain injury patients with peripheral leukocytes and the number of CD34~+ cells in the course of development with varying degrees of increase, the more serious injury, GCS score, the lower, WBC and CD34~+ cell count higher, the worse the prognosis, leukocytosis longer duration, the worse the prognosis. Peripheral blood CD34~+ cells in the brain injury of light and heavy two groups, each time gradually increased. Critically ill patients from day 3 and significant difference between the normal control group had significantly higher than that in patients with mild, mild, severe between the two groups, at 7,11,14 days statistically significant. White blood cell count increased rapidly after injury and gradually decreased, with no change in CD34~+ cells are related. Conclusion: Peripheral blood leukocytes and CD34~+ cells, in patients with acute head injury had different degrees, increased count the more obvious the longer the duration, the results of the worse the prognosis, this study suggests that peripheral blood patients with brain injury CD34~+ cell count and no correlation between. Patient peripheral blood CD34~+ cells after injury were significantly increased, the body considering the existence of endogenous stem cell mobilization, the specific mechanism is not clear. WBC and CD34~+ cell count changes can be an important indicator of prognosis.
