In recent years,driven by the development of electronic computer and sensor technology,on-line test systems have being characteristic of new-type size machines.Since on-line,real time, and accurate detection of yarn moisture regain and size loading has realized,the research and development of viscosity on line measurement device became a significant and urgent task for size machinery development.A device for viscosity on-line measurement of size mixture was introduced,which was based on capillary method and was controlled by PLC(Programmable Logic Controller).The drawbacks of funnel viscometer in sizing process,that operation was inconvenient and measurement accuracy was inferior,have been conquered in this device.In sizing process the viscosity measurement of size mixture can be completed automatically.This article investigated the viscosity range,size mixing process and sizing technology of size mixture widely adopted in filament weaving factory,and determined that filament size viscosity measurement device should adhere to the principle of YT821 funnel viscometer.Then,by means of the iteration approach,a method of prediction the flow time of different power law fluid through the funnel was studied.And based on the results of this method,the effect factors of measurement results were analyzed,prepared for the design of the measurement device.After that this article designed the detecting cup structure,liquid level detector and peripheral circuit,programmed the PLC which is the controller of the measurement process.Finally,2 samples of different concentration D-288 size mixture were measured by this device,the rehlogical parameters of these samples were tested,and the flow time was predicted by means of the iteration approach.In the contrastive analysis,the conclusion was made,that is the discrepancy of these flow times less than 16%.Hence,the results were reliable.The on-line device was a replace product of funnel viscometer, which was widely applied in size industry.The measurement process completed automatically and objectively,the resolution was higher,and the results were more precise.This device provided a labor saving alternative,and the manual operation was not demanded.
