An Empirical Study on WebQuest for EFL Instruction

21st century education is the core of learning to learn, this concept also applies to English. Develop students' ability to learn and learning methods, students learn how to learn is the responsibility of the majority of English teachers. Constructivism holds that knowledge is not imparted by teachers, but by the learner through collaboration, discussion, exchange and help each other, and with the necessary information resource active construction. Therefore, we should be student-centered, the creation of a real mission scenarios, in order to facilitate students' knowledge construction. In the network environment, learning resources colorful, students have more opportunities to reach English, English teachers need to change teaching methods, on the complicated selection process for online resources to meet students' learning needs, to better mobilize the initiative of students participation, inquiry learning initiative, students learn how to learn. The author will constructivist educational theory based WebQuest that a new model is introduced into the network teaching college English classroom. WebQuest in 1995 by the American University professor Bernie Doug (Bernie Dodge) initiative. It is a kind of network environment, guided by the teacher, to a certain task-driven learning teaching students to explore their own way, it is mainly through the students' self-learning and cooperative learning, students gather information and ability to process information, analyze and solve problem solving skills, as well as exchanges and cooperation. Currently there are many foreign teachers to set up their own WebQuest site and carried out in the classroom teaching practice. Although this teaching mode in China has also been tentative applications, but use it for college English teaching is not much empirical research. This article is the author of a college English class to introduce bold WebQuest activities in order to observe its impact on Chinese students learning English in an empirical study. This study used questionnaires, classroom observation, interviews, and a comparative study before and after the test method designed to find patterns of learning through WebQuest teaching students interest in learning English, attitudes and abilities of our transformation. The results show that, in the network environment, the use of WebQuest WebQuest activity of college English teaching is feasible and effective. It not only opened up the students 'horizons and increase the students' vocabulary, cultivate the students 'cross-cultural awareness, to mobilize the students' active participation in learning, self-exploration, seriously consider the enthusiasm, but also for students to create a harmonious and meaningful learning environment, development the students' self-learning ability and sense of cooperation, improve the effectiveness of student learning, encourage them to learn how to learn.
