Along with the improvement of the automation of our country’s industrial production, the devices which need to be monitored, operated and maintained in the wild are more and more. While the monitor and the object are fixed if using the traditional monitoring method; in addition, A kind of intelligent measuring and controlling device base on GPS/GPRS, which is designed in this paper, combined with the technology of mobile communication, computer network, embeded software and electronics, has realized the function of positioning and the remote measuring and monitoring of data.Firstly, the paper expounds the background of advancing the study odject, points out the significance of this study object, and definitizes the contents of the study object. On this base, the paper has introduced the theories which are related to the study object, and they provide theory evidence and knowledge preparation for further research. Secondly, the paper expounds the hardware of the system. The system is made up of two parts, intelligent controlling module and remote data transmission module. The intelligent controlling module uses C8051F021 MCU as its CPU; extends an clock chip, controlling the remote data transmission module by SPI0 interface. The remote data transmission module, which is made up of C8051F020 MCU,MC35i module and a RS232 interface useed for communicating with GPS module and data collector,realized the function of data collection and remote communication. In the part of the software design, the paper first expounds the structure of the software design and its function, and then expatiates on every submodule. Then the paper introduces the experiments of data collecting of PLC and GPS, gives the results display and analyzes the time delay and bit error of the system.Finally, according to the trend of technology development, the paper proposes some points that need to be improved to the intelligent measuring and controlling device base on GPS/GPRS that we discussed.The results of the experiments indicate that the intelligent measuring and controlling device base on GPS/GPRS designed in this paper has good real-time and high reliability, and can be used in many fields, such as hydrological monitoring and geological survey, to realize remote measuring and controlling.
