As the networking equipment market is growing day by day, Beijing Wanlink Teleocmmunications Ltd has persistently tries their best to meet the demands of the customers by advancing the performance and functionality of the routers as well as improving the architecture of the software for the router.Using MPC8247, MPC8250, Vanlink serial route’s performance was difficult to be improved highly. The reason is low-speed memory, low-frequency CPU and PCI bus, especially the low forward speed of Ethernet controller integrated in mainboard.This theme gives Technical solution to vanlink route’s problems. New vanlink route achieve elevation of performance and stability, by using MPC8349 processor in hardware and optimizing driver progress in software.Firstly, this paper introduce freescale telcommunication processor MPC8349’s architecture roundly, then analyse technology of ethernet port, serial port, pci bus, expound the design and realization of MPC8349 mainboard driver progress. At last the paper give some function and performance test case and test result.
