Acute suppurative thyroiditis (AST) is a non-specific infection diseases of the thyroid , and its incidence is very low, especially with the extensive application of antibiotics , is very rare in clinical practice . AST early symptoms are often atypical , often confused with other infectious diseases of the anterior or lumps , easily misdiagnosed as same as thyroiditis disease subacute thyroiditis . We report a case no relief continued application of the hormone in the outpatient been misdiagnosed as subacute thyroiditis AST patients early in the course of the disease showed only neck pain , lack of systemic infection and thyroid local basis misdiagnosed as subacute thyroiditis neck pain the square clear diagnosis process to thyroid abscess formation . Combination of relevant literature , this paper discusses the AST etiology , clinical manifestations , differential diagnosis , diagnosis, treatment and prognosis progress .
