Objective:To analyze etiology and metabolic disorders of hospitalized hypertensive patients in the department of hypertension from 2004 to 2008.Methods:This retrospective study was performed to analyze the etiology of hospitalized hypertension patients in department of hypertension and to show the distribution change of hypertension from 2004 to 2008, analysis evaluated the characteristics of metabolic disorders in essential hypertensive patients. Results:(1) There were 70.5% patients with essential hypertension and 29.5% patients with secondary hypertension (SH). Higher prevalence rate of secondary hypertension were sleep apneasyndrome(OSAS)51.0%, primary aldosteronism(PA) 12.7% and anxiety 9.9%. The prevalence rate of SH increased significantly during the five years (X2=172.27,P<0.001), especially the prevalence of OSAS、PA and PA complicated with OSAS (χ2=61.788, P<0.001; X2=32.743, P<0.001;χ2=26.376,P<0.001), But other SH remained unchanged. (2) Among 3904 hospitalized patients with essential hypertension, the percentages of patients combined with dyslipidemia, abnomality of glucosemetabolisem, hyperuricemia and hyperhomocysteinemia were 31.1%,24.6%,14.0% and 8.3% respectively.58..9% of the essential hypertensives had one metabolic disorder at least,The patients combined one, two, or>3 of the disorders were 43.0%、12.7%、3.2% Proportionally, patients combined with dyslipidemia (40.8%), combined with abnomality of glucose metabolisem (28.9%) and both combined with dyslipidemia and abnomality of glucose metabolisem (63.9%) were common. Conclusion:EH occupy most of hypertension. With the insights gained on hypertension mechanism and the development of new diagnostic technology, percent of diagnosed SH increased remarkably in recent years in hospitalized hypertensive patients in our Department of Hypertension.OSAS、PA and anxiety are the leading causes of SH. High prevalence of metabolic disorders was observed in hospitalized essential hypertensive patients, in order to prevent and reduce target organ damage in hypertensive patients, the treatment of metabolic disorders, especially hyperlipemia and glucose atnormal, should be carried out at the same time for hypertension treament.
