Morin Exerts Anti-osteoarthritic Properties: an in Vitro and in Vivo Study

Purpose of osteoarthritis in rats overview of Chasang pigment , and to explore its mechanism . Method of in vitro experiments using primary cells cultured in vitro rat cartilage to observe different concentrations of morin interleukin 1-β -induced matrix metalloproteinase -3 , -13 ( MMP -3 , -13 ) and matrix metalloproteinase tissue inhibitor factor-1 (TIMP - 1 ) expression research Morin chondrocytes MAPK pathway of ERK , p38 and JNK ; vivo experiments , 15 SD rats underwent unilateral anterior cruciate ligament disarticulation surgery after randomly divided into sham group , the experimental group and the control group . Experimental group I morin suspension orally at a dose of 50mg/kg/day for four weeks in a row , were killed after take knee gross and histopathological examination . Results of cell experiments showed that the Morin inhibits interleukin 1-β -induced MMP - 3 and MMP -13 expression , at the same time raised the TIMP-1 levels , the mechanism may be through the inhibition of phosphorylation of ERK and p38 pathways . Histopathological examination of animal experiments to show cartilage lesions of the experimental group than in control group . Conclusion Morin protective effect on rat articular cartilage can inhibit catabolism and slow the progression of osteoarthritis .
